Oh dear. Well, tell him I wish him a belated happy birthday! Yes, perfect! Or one of those little snow globes or something with Santa Claus surfing inside it.

We annoyed him at Christmastime with saying or singing “Mele Kalikimaka” every time we saw him.

xD That’s beautiful. You should give him a Lilo doll so he won’t feel so homesick. (Or just play the songs from the movie on repeat constantly, or sing them when he’s around.)

I think I will. You know, he’s quite pale for a Hawaiian. I know he’s originally from Alaska, but you would think living on an island would give him some color!

Oh, I have. He doesn’t remember much about Alaska, though. He was young when he moved. He’s pale for an Alaskan too.

I’m not even sure what an Alaskan looks like…but wouldn’t you expect them to be pale anyways, just because of the snow and how cold it is and stuff?

Inuits are Native Americans (or so I have learned in Dr. Beast’s U.S. History class) and they have dark skin, but Alex isn’t Inuit. Obviously. Und neither is Scott.

Huh. Weird. Maybe it’s just genetics? Any idea where their parents are from? That might have something to do with it.

You never know with genetics. It’s tricky.

Yeah. That’s why we have scientists (and Google), so they can explain it for us. Although I still wish I had inherited some tall genes…

I really want to know what made my genes decide to give me three fingers and toes. And fur. And why I’m not purple.
